Training on Climate Resilient Integrated Farming System Conducted in Tripura

The Centre for Livelihood Alternatives and Promotion Foundation (CLAP Foundation), a national level organization is working with the Mission to promote sustainable climate-resilient agriculture, diversified livelihoods and entrepreneurship through technical support, digitalization and market linkages while strengthening community institutions and local governance systems. CLAP Foundation organised a training programme on Climate Resilient Integrated Farming System (CRIFS) on 5th January 2026 at the Chottakhola Community Hall, Rajnagar block, Belonia Sub Division, South Tripura.The training programme aimed to strengthen farmers’ capacities by promoting the Integrated Farming System approach, which focuses on the efficient utilisation of farm resources through the integration of crops, horticulture, livestock, and other allied activities.The sessions highlighted sustainable farming practices, income diversification, risk mitigation, efficient recycling of farm inputs, and improved farm productivity and profitability while focusing on the climate resilient production system. These efforts are part of CLAP Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to enhance rural livelihoods and ensure environmentally sustainable agricultural development.A total of 60 farmers from Rajnagar block participated in the programme. Most of the participants are engaged in the cultivation of jackfruit, scented lemon, arecanut, turmeric, pineapple, exotic fruits and seasonal vegetables, along with livestock-based activities. Through interactive discussions and experience-sharing sessions, farmers gained a practical knowledge on CRIFS models suitable for small and marginal landholdings and local agro-climatic conditions. The training also encouraged farmers to develop a practical action plan for adopting Climate Resilient Integrated Farming Systems at the household level, enabling them to optimise available resources and ensure year-round income opportunities.The sessions were facilitated by experienced resource persons Mr. Khokon Roy, Retired Deputy Director, Horticulture, Government of Tripura, and Mr. Bijan Chowdhury, Retired Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, Government of Tripura. They shared valuable field-based experiences, successful case studies, and practical insights to support the effective implementation of CRIFS models.The initiative is expected to boost productivity, ensure more stable incomes, improve market access for farmers and EPFCs and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
